Let's get started.

Michelle St Jane  0:37

As 2020 drew to a close, I am filled with gratitude. In 2020 I aspired to provide you with rich conversations around less discussed topics via solo episodes and featured guests. My goal was to provide innovative content and resources for listeners that inspired me with their deep resilience, for those who engaged in a lot of thoughtful social media action. This has helped me build an engaged audience. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

1:08

Thank you again for putting your time and attention into listening, sharing, and reviewing the podcast Life and Leadership: A Conscious Journey. You've provided me with a constant source of energy and inspiration. I feel more fortunate than ever.

1:23

Are you excited about what's ahead in 2021?

Let's recognize your self-worth and celebrate the successes and forgive the failures.

1:33

David Brewster, a Scottish writer, physicist and inventor who had a passion for optics and scientific instruments created the kaleidoscope in 1860. In my experience, the kaleidoscope is a helpful image to explore the matters that may be difficult to make sense.  The image of a kaleidoscope to help me allows me to imagine moving my experiences over the last decade into different forms and patterns. As new patterns arise, and ever-changing array of possibilities comes into my view.  Suspending my ego, moving from head to heart, I can approach and see the images as if magical and rotating.

2:13

Reflecting on the activity over the last decade, I can view my periods of paralysis, allow the noticing of how did my brain wandered and wondered leading me on new progress, new paths for learning. The world is made up of kaleidoscopic pieces of the past that collide, break apart and bring into view new understandings of hard-earned wisdom. This is easy to miss. My focus is only called to the negative aspects of life.

2:43

I am ever appreciative and grateful to Sir Brewster and concur with the tribute paid to him by Dr. Peter Roget, the creator of the Thesaurus in Blackwood’s Magazine in 1818 Roget wrote “no invention, and no work, whether addressed to the information or understanding ever produced such an effect.”

3:04

As Einstein once said, “energy never disappears, it merely changes form.”

Your life is a multitude of light and energy, creating interconnections of thoughts, feelings, and actions.  Thus, creating an ongoing prism, lighting up the twists and turns of the kaleidoscopic images of the chaos, creativity, and diversity in your life.

3:26

Pause, if you will, have the patience and the persistence to look through your lens of history, turning the kaleidoscope and review the major events of the last decade. Will you notice what gifts were offered to you and view your life through an enhanced diverse multiple lenses like a kaleidoscope. This is useful for considering phenomena of who or what was in your life for a reason, a season, the decade, or your lifetime.

3:57

Once again, pause, peek behind the veil of egoic illusion. You need guidance not illusionary promises to understand your inner self. You can perceive a future, unrestricted by the memories of the past, self-pity need not cage you today. You're moving from one decade to the next, choose what past events to leave behind you.  Use the energy of the wisdom gifted from the past to light to see the way forward on your conscious journey.

4:29

H. H. Tenzin Gyatso, the XIV Dalai Lama of Tibet, once said, “to be aware of a single shortcoming within oneself is more useful than to be aware of 1000 and somebody else.”

Trust your worthiness to receive from an infinite universe.

4:49

Let's look closer, perhaps even conduct an audit. You know you cannot change your past paths.

You can review and renew within these places and spaces where some of life's mysteries nestle.

Where have you come from?

5:05

Take a look at those historically resisted compromises you were forced to make.

Look around with care. Note the details. Absorb the beauty of the moment or the life lessons. What did you choose to experience in life during the last decade?

Look closely at the people, places, and situations that commanded your attention.

Observe closely, it is in the richness of these people, places, and situations, that becomes wisdom clearly.

Get to know your purpose, and plan how to achieve it.

5:48

Peter Singh identified that most of us carry around a deep sense of resignation. As he puts it, and I quote,

“[You]’re resigned to believing [you] can’t have any influence in the world, at least not on a scale that matters. So [YOU] focus on the small scale, where thing [YOU]  can have an influence. [YOU]  do [y]our best for [y]our kids, or [YOU]  work on [y]our relationships, or [YOU]  focus on building a career. But deep down, [YOU]’re resigned to being absolutely powerless in the larger world. Yet if we have a world of people who all feel powerless, we have a future that’s predetermined. So [YOU]  live in hopelessness and helplessness, a state of great despair. And this despair is actually a product of how [YOU] think, a kind of self-fulfilling prophecy.”

6:41

I have an idea. Let's avoid the self-fulfilling prophecy described by Peter Senge. It may stem from what academic researchers Godshalk & Fender and Mainiero & Sullivan called “the making of a kaleidoscopic career.”

6:58

In my experience, my professional advancements and opt-outs were either by choice or chance. They don't necessarily follow the traditional trajectory, and definitely form a kaleidoscope of paths taken and those not taken.

7:14

I remember well, the art of trying to balance the demands of long work hours, and the demands of my family. Unlike many of my male counterparts, I didn't have a wife holding together the domestic front.

7:26

Resonating with me, a colleague shared her thoughts early in the 2020s about how she felt. She said, “I'm at such a stage in my life where I recognize I have fewer years ahead of me than I have behind me. I'm questioning whether I'm using money to enable my children or as an excuse for me not making major decisions about my life.” Peter Senge wrote, “despair is undiscussable, especially for successful people”. In the depths of our complexity, we are all trying to create change in our corporate or personal world, being conscious and concerned conscience we feel is time-worn despair.”

8:08

To make sense of the research for my doctorate, I created a moon gate structure built to hold my theories and frame the space for an entryway of a kaleidoscope of energy.  The fertile movement across and among the theories too-ing and froing I had to travel meant I was able to provide context through multitudes of kaleidoscopic movements. Amidst the invisibility of other factors, yet to come into view with each minute turn of a kaleidoscope lens, groupings of the different blocks of theory and method brought me forward a new pattern full of new meaning and combined new perspectives on the distribution of knowledge and power.  I, then, employed a kaleidoscope image as a means to view the possible post-doctorate work depicted in the magical landscape of the kaleidoscope. By employing a kaleidoscopic image, I was not tempted to provide a static map.

8:59

Perhaps this approach may be useful to YOU charting the next decade?

Capturing the history, near and distant experiences YOU may be inspired to look further, as if through a kaleidoscope with all the moving colorful parts reflected by the internal mirrors in motion, again and again, settling into numerous different patterns.

Hello to discovery, making visible a road beyond, yet not traveled.

9:27

According to Anne Morrow Lindbergh, “it is only in frame space that beauty blooms; only in space are events, and objects and people unique and significant and therefore beautiful.”

The choices you made are part of your growth and learning.

Consider the ticking down of time during this new decade.

Is it time to genuinely turn on the path of your conscious journey?

This day turns into a week.

This week becomes a month

That month becomes a year

That year becomes the completion of this decade.

10:06

Is it time to reframe your Ecosystem?

Let’s check-in.

  • Who are you today?
  • Who would you like to be evolving over the next decade?

10:16

After all, this is your conscious journey. Moving forward, make a choice to own your past and shape your future!

Adopt new choices, the ones that expand you.

  • What worked?
  • What didn't work?

10:50

The present enshrines the past, according to Simone de Beauvoir. Take the best.

What contributes to your future?

Refine your foundation, build strategies, and skills.

You can influence your actions, energy, feelings, and thoughts.

You can lighten the darkness heighten the joy and create the bold design of your Kaleidoscope.

11:15

Whatever you face today, or during the next decade, as you move through the minutes, hours, weeks, months, years, you can choose to influence your future. Every moment is part of the whole you create. Anticipate the goodness.

11:43

Create the kind of moments that energize the beauty of your path as you step through the kaleidoscope of your life.
